Minutes - Monday, August 18, 2025, 4:00 PM
Attendees: Alyee Whitworth (Tourism Manager), Angie Ayers, Bob Doty, Darla Doty, Vanessa
Halford, Caitlin Moyer, Jake Norris, Darrell Brown
Absent:
1.Approval of Minutes
Minutes approved from June 30, 2025 meeting were reviewed and approved as presented.
2. National Day of the American Cowboy

Saturday July 26 was National Day of the American Cowboy to honor/celebrate the day,
social media was utilized to post about the day/significance. Post was received well and
had good metrics.
3. Rodeoville USA Updates
The coffee table book is still in progress but is likely to be completed next year.
Interviews and photo shoots are complete for several featured people like JJ Hampton,
Adam & Gilbert Carillo, Sid Miller, Jim Sharp. There are still interviews and photo
shoots to be completed.
4. Boot Statue Update
The first boot statue is complete and located by the Downtown Plaza and Cowboy Capital
Walk of Fame. Another is located at Dowell Ace Hardware, with a third about to be
installed at Keller Williams. Business and Individuals can purchase a boot and hire a pre-
approved painter to paint the boot at their location. Two sizes: Larger commercial- sized
boots ($2500) and smaller residential size boots. Working on a brochure to advertise.
5. Western Swing Festival Update
Western Swing Fest is set for the first Saturday & Sunday in September (Sept. 6 & 7).
The City has invited western swing dancing groups like the Aggie Wranglers. Set list has
been set with performances starting at 6:00 pm on Saturday & Sunday. Festival has been
promoted across town with signs/banners and on social media. Ads were placed with the
Texas Monthly and Texas Coop.

6. Cowboy Walk of Fame Discussion
Alyee and Darrell talked with a contact from the previous committee about the process of
nominating and the plaques. The Nomination form was modeled after the previous form.
Once the current nomination form is approved, the committee will need to ask council for
permission to solicit nominations, and ask the Chamber to release the funds to the
Western Heritage Board to purchase the plaques.
CITIZENS GENERAL DISCUSSION
Discussed upcoming events in Stephenville. September is a busy month with various
Tarleton, City, and Rodeo events occurring. Hopeful that the increased traffic will
generate more interest into Western Swing Fest.
New Wayfinder signs have been installed across town to direct traffic to popular places in
Stephenville.
