HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-10-19 - Library Advisory Board Stephenville Public Library Advisory Board Meeting October 19, 2022 5:00 pm Minutes Board Attendees: Ex Officio Attendees: Kate Barton, Chair Mary Meredith, Library Director Darla Fent, Secretary Daron Trussell, Katy Eichenberg Director of Parks and Leisure Services Katherine Quinnell Jennie Shafer Katherine Smith I. Call to Order. Chair, Kate Barton, called the meeting to order in the Stephenville Public Library. II. Approval of July 20, 2022 Minutes. The minutes were approved with the motion made by Katy Eichenberg and the second by Katherine Quinnell. III. Old Business 1. Summer reading program review Mary Meredith reported that the program was well attended. They gave out 187 bags for readers who completed the program and 270 participated. The Harry Potter Birthday event was cancelled because of low signup but all other events were well-attended. 2. Update on monthly report targets Mary Meredith reported that she has 10 years of data to use in setting monthly targets. Katherine Quinnell volunteered to work with Mary to identify reporting metrics and targets. 3. Library Logo Daron Trussell reported that the new City logo has not been approved but that the bill for the graphic services that were provided for development of the prior logo is being paid. IV. New Business 1. Report of the Objectives/Goals/Board Expectations - Daron Trusssell, Director of Parks and Leisure Services Kate Barton welcomed Daron. Daron reported that he is still getting settled and that construction of the new Senior Center has been consuming a large portion of his time. He feels that the library is operating well and is always well-kept and friendly. No changes or updates for the library are currently in progress. He feels the board is operating as it should and that communication is good. David Baskett is the designated Council contact for the Library. On behalf of the board, Kate emphasized that we are very willing to work with both he and the Council to accommodate changes and growth of the Library. 2. Operations, programming, and participation review Mary distributed copies of the Monthly Report and highlighted increased usage for the summer months as is the normal case. There was discussion to clarify some of the items and for items to consider adding. 3. Fall/Winter Programming Boo for Books – 10/31 from 5-7 pm. HEB again has provided a grant for book but is changing their grant process for next year. th Frames, Etc., 20 Century Club and an anonymous donor have also provided books. Holly Jolly – 12/12 The Library will participate again by helping children write letters to Santa. Mary encouraged Board members to come work if they can. 4. Other new business Mary announced that the children’s wall has finally been completed and encouraged member to see it. The children are really enjoying it. Informal group discussion continued for future programs and library projects. V. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned with the motion made by Katherine Smith and the second by Jennie Shafer.
