HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-01-13 - Mayor's Youth Council VIIENVILLE TEXAS MAYOR'S YOUTH COUNCIL City Hall Training Room, 298 West Washington Street (Use Columbia Street Entrance) Monday, January 13, 2025 at 5:30 PM MINUTES The City Council of the City of Stephenville,Texas,convened on Monday,January 13, 2025, in the City Hall Training Room, 298 West Washington Street (Use Columbia Street Entrance), for the purpose of a Mayor's Youth Council, with the meeting being open to the public and notice of said meeting, giving the date, time, place and subject thereof, having been posted as prescribed by Chapter 551, Government Code, Vernon's Texas Codes Annotated, with the following members present,to wit: MAYOR'S YOUTH COUNCIL Ella Shaw PRESENT: Hudson Musick Jansen Monk Kate Fambrough Kenley Pack(5:38 PM) Kenson Fain (5:36 PM) MAYOR'S YOUTH COUNCIL ABSENT: Salma Helal OTHERS ATTENDING: Sarah Lockenour, City Secretary Steve Killen, Development Services Director Darrell Brown, Development Services Director Ashley Thomas, Main Street Manager CALL TO ORDER City Secretary Sarah Lockenour called the Mayor's Youth Council meeting to order at 5:30 PM. REGULAR AGENDA 3. Discussion Over CONTROVERSY WITH CIVILITY Director of Development Services Steve Killen led the council through a discussion over Controversy with Civility and how that relates to municipal government. 1. Appointment of Mayor's Youth Council Positions b.Vice Chair Acts as back up for Chairperson. Chair Kenley Pack received nominations for Kate Fambrough, Ella Shaw, and Hudson Musick. Mayor's Youth Council Minutes—January 13, 2025 Page I 1 Each nominee presented a brief campaign speech on why they would be the best fit for Vice Chair of the Mayor's Youth Council. A hand-raise vote was held for the three nominees as follows: - Kate Fambrough -2 votes - Ella Shaw—1 vote - Hudson Musick—2 votes After a tie breaking hand-raise vote, Hudson Musick was named Vice Chair 3:2. c. Historian Gathers facts and photos from the duration of the program. Chair Kenley Pack received nominations for Kate Fambrough and Ella Shaw. Each nominee presented a brief campaign speech on why they would be the best fit for the Historian of the Mayor's Youth Council. Hudson Musick moved that nominations be closed. After a hand-raise vote, Ella Shaw was named Historian 3:2. 2. Consider Approval of Minutes- December 2, 2024 Chair Kenley Pack addressed a typo on item 2. MOTION by Hudson Musick, second by Kate Fambrough, to approve minutes from December 2, 2024, with corrections as presented. MOTION CARRIED unanimously.
